Vision of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department

In line with Al-Hikma University College’s commitment to its national responsibility in building service-oriented, educational, and research institutions, and given the need for qualified medical staff with experience and knowledge in the field of medical laboratory technologies, the department aims to develop scientific competencies and skills to improve the health standards in our country and serve the community. This is achieved by providing trained and specialized staff for both government and private medical laboratories. The Medical Analysis Techniques Department was established in the academic year (2018-2019), under the supervision of a highly qualified teaching staff with vast experience. The department provides ideal classrooms and scientific laboratories equipped with the latest devices, laboratory supplies, and biological and chemical materials.

Objectives of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department

  1. Actively contributing to the preparation of laboratory technical staff that meets the labor market demands and fills the needs of both public and private medical laboratories, capable of performing various laboratory tests, including blood tests, microbiological and serological analyses, tissue examination, clinical chemistry, hormones, immunology, and general tests.
  2. Enriching students with fundamental biological and medical sciences in general and with the principles of medical analysis and their applications in particular, from both a theoretical and scientific perspective, for the benefit of public health.
  3. Preparing staff capable of operating and maintaining medical laboratory devices used in diagnostic laboratories.
  4. Working diligently to establish advanced laboratories that operate according to the best international standards (WHO, ISO) and under the supervision of field specialists in the field.
  5. Actively working to establish partnerships between Al-Hikma University College’s laboratories and internationally recognized, highly competent laboratories through a twinning program.

Department Mission

  1. The department aims to keep up with the ongoing developments in infrastructure and the scientific revolution in the diagnostic medical field by enriching and providing students with theoretical and scientific information, academic studies, and the latest advancements in diagnostic and research fields.
  2. It aims to graduate technical staff capable of working in medical laboratories, conducting routine laboratory analyses, performing general chemical tests, analyzing fluids, and operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  3. Strengthening the scientific and knowledge foundation of Al-Hikma University College by aligning the department’s scientific foundation with global university standards.
  4. Developing the department in areas of distance e-learning and encouraging scientific communication in information systems both within and outside the college.
  5. Focusing on scientific research to enhance faculty development, aiming to elevate the scientific and knowledge levels for continuous improvement.
  6. Updating and developing curricula to align with global developments and the rapid technological advancements in the scientific field, keeping pace with contemporary scientific progress.

  • Organizing training courses and workshops to develop the teaching staff.
  • Motivating and increasing scientific meetings, such as conferences, between faculty members.

Continuous Development of Faculty and Staff:

  • Improving the effectiveness of the performance evaluation system for faculty members and staff.
  • Creating a system for encouraging and preparing faculty members and staff.
  • Involving faculty members and staff in international external courses to increase performance quality and efficiency.

Providing an Academic Environment in the Department:

  • Establishing and developing advanced research laboratories.
  • Providing necessary equipment and supplies to improve performance efficiency.
  • Organizing activities that encourage distinguished creative work.
  • Supporting the infrastructure both materially and morally.

Continuing Education:

  • Developing continuous education processes towards improvement.
  • Actively participating in seminars and discussion sessions to acquire advanced knowledge in scientific research.

  • Periodic and organized review of quality and educational systems.
