Head of the Department
Assistant Professor, Dr. Ali Mohammed Saker
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, for His countless blessings. Among His greatest favors upon us is the gift of knowledge, which He has granted to many of His creation. Some have utilized this knowledge for the benefit of themselves and others, while others have neglected it, becoming preoccupied with worldly pleasures, thereby losing the joy of learning and allowing it to fade into oblivion.
It is our pleasure, within this limited digital space, to highlight that the Department of English Language is one of the fundamental and significant academic departments at Al-Hikma College. Students in this department undertake 27 academic courses over a four-year period, accumulating a total of 105 credit units, which are essential for fulfilling the requirements of a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature. The department is home to a number of faculty members specializing in various disciplines and academic ranks, all of whom contribute to the educational and pedagogical processes at the undergraduate level.
Since assuming leadership of the department, our goal has been to continue the efforts initiated by our esteemed predecessors. Our primary focus is on the academic process, followed by the administrative tasks, which, as you are aware, come with their own set of challenges. We are committed to ensuring the completion and follow-up of all administrative procedures while encouraging faculty members to actively participate in academic events organized by the college, universities, and other institutions. These include scientific conferences, workshops, seminars, and discussion panels. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of scientific research by encouraging faculty members to publish their work in reputable, peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, we strive to monitor and enhance the teaching process, as it serves as the cornerstone of our department.
To the best of our ability and within the available resources of the college, we endeavor to develop and modernize the academic curriculum, focusing on the practical aspects of the courses to keep pace with the latest advancements. This effort significantly benefits students by enhancing their academic performance and preparing them for professional endeavors after graduation.
Finally, through the department’s research and operational plan, we aim to contribute to the academic and institutional advancement of both our students and the college. Our goal is to achieve a strong position in local and global rankings in accordance with scientific and administrative quality standards.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all faculty members for their dedication and efforts in the educational and administrative processes. We also express our gratitude to our colleagues in other departments, the college administration, and all staff members. May Allah bless you all and guide you toward success.
