Overview of English Language Department

The Department of English Language – College of Arts is one of the main departments in the College of Al-Hikma. It was established in 2019, where the department began with a small number of students, reaching six students, but the subsequent courses of the department have hundreds of distinguished students. The department was headed in the first two academic years 2019-2020 and 2021-2020 by (Prof. Dr. Nizam Sheet Hamid) and after that by (Prof. Dr. Munther Abdul-Zaq Sabaa) for the academic year (2023-2024) and (Assistant Professor Ahmed Ali Hussein) for the academic year (2024-2025). The department was keen to establish distinguished scientific partnerships in terms of scientific research, conferences and unification of curricula through a twinning agreement with the Department of English Language / College of Arts / University of Iraq. The department aims to provide students with scientific knowledge and academic skills in the field of English language. The department focuses on studying the theoretical, practical and skill aspects related to the English language, through a comprehensive curriculum. The department also seeks to prepare qualified professors, translators and academic researchers to apply and use the English language in modern ways. The department also enhances the research and creative abilities of students, which contributes to improving the quality of life and public health. This department provides distinguished education that combines theory and application.
